Peter Cairns

Based in the heart of Scotland's Cairngorms National Park, Peter Cairns is an award-winning nature photographer and writer with a deep fascination for our relationship with the natural world. In addition to documenting Europe's high profile wildlife species, Peter covers a diverse range of topical conservation stories from nature-based tourism to the potential reintroduction of wolves... and most things in between!

Peter authors regular illustrated features in photographic and countryside magazines and has co-authored three books on Europe’s wildlife and our relationship with it. He was one of the co-founders of the widely acclaimed Tooth & Claw predator project, from which a permanent research and education centre is being developed. More recently, Peter has worked as Business Director for the Wild Wonders of Europe project and is a founding director of The Wild Media Foundation, a social enterprise that uses visual media to work with the scientific community to bring nature's stories to life for a wide audience. Peter is a director of the Scottish wildlife tourism association, Wild Scotland, and is only one of three British photographers to have been invited to be a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers.
