Whooper Swan in the snow, Caerlaverock, Scotland.

Danny Green

I live in Leicestershire with my wife and two children. I became interested in nature from a young age and was very rarely at home, always wandering the woods and rivers looking for wildlife. My late grandfather was a big influence in my childhood always showing me signs of nature and pointing out different aspects of life from habitats and seasons, day and night. He is sadly missed as I would have loved to have shared my many experiences and encounters with nature with him. Some 30 years on and I am still as restless and keen to learn more about the natural world to this day.

All kinds of natural history are of interest from mammals, birds, insects and reptiles. I like the excitement of travelling to exotic locations but most of my best work is achieved in the UK as I immerse myself into long term projects. My favourite destination in the UK is the Shetland Isles. if the weather conditions are right it is a wildlife photographer's dream. Wiith vast seabird colonies and northern specialties there is always something to photograph. I am addicted to light and I am constantly searching for it for my images. Lighting is the key ingredient for any form of photography. The trick with nature photography is to tell a story. That story can be about its habits, habitat, character or more importantly a conservation message. To this end our job as photographers for 2020VISION is to produce just that and I am so excited to be part of this unique project.
