My wildlife photography is largely angled towards birds for which I have a passion. This goes far beyond photography and one of my big interests are our cultural connections with birds, which ties in with a conservation orientated Birds & People project that I am currently working on. We are often fed a diet of spectacular nature images from exotic locations around the world through our media, but rarely has there been such an opportunity to project our native wildlife to so many by using the power of the still image. 2020VISION creates this opportunity and will bring together many different photographic styles to be presented as one voice. As a child I developed an interest in nature that helped mould my childhood. Today my kids would have so many more distractions and barriers on engaging with nature if they did not have a dad who is a wildlife photographer, so my hope for 2020VISION is that it might have some part in firing interest in the young who just may not have had the spark yet to ignite this interest.
